College of Charleston beats Georgia Southern 92-84

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Donavan Monroe scored 30 points and the College of Charleston defeated Georgia Southern 92-84 on Saturday night.

The Cougars (6-3, 2-0 Southern Conference) shot 54.4 percent from the field (31 of 57) and made 21 of 26 free throws (80.8 percent).

Andrew Goudelock, who was 11 of 12 from the free-throw line, had 20 points for Charleston. Trent Wiedeman chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds and Andrew Lawrence scored 16 for the Cougars.

The Cougars outrebounded Georgia Southern 44-31.

The Eagles (2-7, 0-2) used just eight players, with six getting on the scoreboard. However, all six scored in double figures.

Tre Bussey scored 21, Eric Ferguson 16, Ben Drayton III 14 and Jelani Hewitt had 13 for Georgia Southern. Marvin Baynham and Sam Mike scored 10 apiece for the Eagles, who lost their sixth straight.
