BALTIMORE (AP) — DeWayne Jackson scored 24 points and Morgan State beat Coppin State for the sixth time in a row, 70-64, on Saturday in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

Aric Brooks added 13 points and Justin Black had 10 for the Bears (3-4), who snapped a two-game losing streak. The Bears won despite an off night from Kevin Thompson, who had double-doubles in each of the first six games this season but was held to seven points by Coppin State.

Morgan State built its largest lead of 13 points with 16:11 to play and held off the Eagles on the strength of making all of its 13 free throw attempts in the second half. Morgan State shot 90 percent (18 of 20) from the line for the game.

Akeem Ellis scored 20 points, Tony Gallo added 17 and Michael Harper had 11 for Coppin State (2-3), which had won two games in a row after losing its first two to start the season.
