NEW YORK (AP) — Nicole H cruised to victory Saturday in the $65,000 Garland of Roses Handicap, capping a big afternoon for jockey Ramon Dominguez and trainer Mike Hushion.
Dominguez, the leading rider at the meet, won four times; Hushion saddled three winners. Dominguez and Hushion teamed one other victory, Leadwithyourchin in the seventh race.
Nicole H took command turning for home in the stakes for fillies and mares, posting a 212-length win over Meese Rocks. The lone 3-year-old in the race, Nicole H improved to 3 for 13. The time was 1:10.44 for the six furlongs on the fast track.
The 8-5 favorite, Nicole H paid $5.20, $3.20 and $2.40. Meese Rocks returned $5.20 and $3. Tar Heel Mom paid $2.50 to show.
