VANCOUVER — Share Inc., a primary provider of services to the homeless and hungry in Clark County, is collecting gifts for its clients and getting ready getting ready for its annual holiday party.

Share is looking for people and businesses to “adopt” families that are living at a homeless shelter or in a subsidized apartment.

You can participate by donating new gift items — for instance, clothing of all sizes (men, women, teens and children), linens, housewares, hygiene items, sleeping bags, blankets, backbacks, board games, toys and gift cards for groceries, gasoline and entertainment.

“Share clients are surviving on extremely limited incomes and struggle to afford the most basic of necessities,” said Share Executive Director Diane McWithey. “Christmas presents are a luxury often out of their reach.” Last year Share distributed more than 15,000 gifts to 2,623 individuals and 578 families through its adopt-a-family effort.

All donations should be delivered to the Share Service Center, 2306 N.E. Andresen Road, by Dec. 10; please call 360-750-4436 ext. 309 to schedule a drop-off time or learn more. Or visit http://www.sharevancouver.org.

The Share holiday party is set for 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 107 E. Seventh St. It’s free and open to the public.
