LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Brandon Richardson scored 18 points and Lance Jeter added 12, including two big free throws with 26 seconds left, to lead Nebraska to a 59-54 victory over Creighton on Sunday in a meeting of the state’s only Division I basketball programs.

The Cornhuskers (6-2), who won their fourth straight, erased a 29-21 halftime deficit with a barrage of 3-pointers early in the second half. They turned back the Bluejays (4-4) every time they tried to make a run.

Kenny Lawson’s three-point play pulled the Bluejays to 55-54. Jeter’s two free throws made it a three-point game. Lawson and Antoine Young missed 3-pointers before Drake Beranek converted a long pass into a layup just before the buzzer for the final margin.

Doug McDermott scored 10 points to lead Creighton, which has lost three straight.
