STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — The fruits of Oklahoma State’s unexpected success this season are showing up, with at least one of Mike Gundy’s assistant coaches being contacted about a new job opportunity.

Gundy said Monday that Louisiana-Lafayette has contacted Oklahoma State about its interest in associate head coach Joe DeForest, who has been on the Cowboys’ staff for 10 seasons.

Gundy says he believes DeForest is “a legitimate candidate” although he doesn’t know whether a formal interview has been conducted yet.

Gundy says he hasn’t been contacted by Florida about its reported interest in offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen for a similar position with the Gators.

Gundy says he hopes to keep his coaching staff intact unless someone has an opportunity to become a head coach or move up into a coordinator’s job.
