If you happen to see kids walking the aisles of Target on Saturday with a police officer, worry not. They’ve done nothing wrong.

Uniformed police officers will take kids referred by the Washington Department of Social and Human Services to “Shop with a Cop” and select Christmas presents.

A collaboration between the Vancouver Police Officers Guild, DSHS, Target and the Union High School Interact Club, “the goal is to make the holiday season a little brighter for these children and their families, and to provide the opportunity to interact in a positive way with the officers,” according to a news release announcing the event.

The event is being held Saturday at the Vancouver Plaza Target.

If you would like information on how to help, call Sgt. Scott Creager at 360-487-7424.
