SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A prosecutor seeking the death penalty for an Oregon man convicted of killing two policemen has told jurors the man had a history of fantasy plots to murder people he didn’t like — including President Bill Clinton.
But a defense lawyer countered Thursday that Bruce Turnidge didn’t act on those fantasies, and that shows he isn’t the terrible man prosecutors are portraying.
Turnidge was convicted Wednesday along with his son, Joshua Turnidge, of aggravated murder and other charges in a 2008 bomb blast at a Woodburn bank that killed a state trooper and a local officer.
A Marion County jury has begun hearing testimony to decide whether to send the Turnidges to death row.
