SALEM, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon man and woman have been arrested after a standoff with police in Salem that lasted several hours but ended without injury.

Police said the incident began just before 10 p.m. Thursday when a man called from a Salem convenience store to report he had escaped from an armed man who had entered his home and threatened him with a handgun.

A police tactical team was able to establish communication and the standoff ended without incident just before 6 a.m. Friday.

Police charged 24-year old Eugene Oscar Guarjardo with menacing and also charged him on a parole violation warrant.

A woman in the house, 33-year old Shray Thompson of Salem, was charged with hindering prosecution and assault. Police said it did not appear she was held against her will.
