Coppin State defeats NAIA West Virginia Tech 79-63

BALTIMORE (AP) — Antonio Williams and Tony Gallo scored 16 points each and Coppin State defeated West Virginia Tech 79-63 on Saturday.

The Eagles (4-3) outrebounded the NAIA Golden Bears 41-33 and scored 27 points off the bench.

West Virginia Tech pulled within one, 11-10, on Roi Buchbinder’s 3-pointer with 13:46 to play in the first half before Coppin State pulled away. Gallo scored nine points, including a four-point play on the Eagles’ ensuing 19-2 run. Michael Murray’s layup capped the spurt to put Coppin State ahead 30-12 with 12:09 left in the first half.

Michael Harper chipped in 14 points for the Eagles, who improved to 4-0 at home.

The Golden Bears (4-3) were led by Josh Proctor with 23 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field and 7 of 12 from the free-throw line. Buchbinder finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.
