KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — NATO says international and Afghan forces have killed a Taliban leader and another insurgent in an overnight raid in eastern Afghanistan.

The military coalition says in a statement issued Sunday that the Taliban operative was involved in weapons smuggling and attacks in eastern Wardak province. It identified him only by his first name, Fedahi.

The statement says two men threatened the troops as they entered a compound where they had heard Fedahi was staying. They shot and killed both of them and one was later identified as Fedahi. The coalition says no civilians were harmed in the operation.
