ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Dairese Gary scored 16 points to lead New Mexico to a 78-62 victory over New Mexico State on Saturday night.

The Lobos (7-1) swept the Aggies (2-7) in the annual in-state rivalry, which included an 84-78 overtime win in Las Cruces, N.M., on Dec. 4.

Aggies guard Christian Kabongo finished with a career-high 21 points and freshman center Hamidu Rahman grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds to equal his best effort of the season.

New Mexico State played the second half without its leading scorer Troy Gillenwater, who was hampered by an ankle injury. Yet the Aggies took a 46-45 lead with 15:22 remaining with a 10-0 run, with Kabongo scoring six of the points.

New Mexico responded with a 13-0 surge to take a 56-46 lead as five Lobos contributed points.
