Northern Iowa defeats Morehead State 69-53

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) — Anthony James scored 18 points and Marc Sonnen added 15 as Northern Iowa defeated Morehead State 69-53 Saturday night.

Johnny Moran had 12 points and Jake Koch finished with 11 for the Panthers (5-3), who won their 19th straight at home, extending the school record.

Kenneth Faried scored 23 points to lead the Eagles (6-4), who had their four-game winning streak snapped.

James finished 7 of 8 from the field, including 4 of 5 from 3-point range.

Northern Iowa ended the first half with a 15-5 run to take a 43-24 advantage. Morehead State pulled to within 47-40 with 11:59 left to play, but James hit his final 3 and the Panthers led by double-digits the rest of the way.
