SIU-Edwardsville tips Kennesaw State 77-76 in 2 OT

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Michael Messer scored 24 points and Nikola Bundalo hit a free throw with 1 second left in the second overtime as Southern Illinois-Edwardsville beat Kennesaw State 77-76 on Saturday night.

It was tied 70-70 after one overtime and 73-73 in the second when Edwardsville’s Cornelius Chatt converted a three-point play with 39 seconds left. Kelvin McConnell drained a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left to tie, but then Bundalo was fouled, and he sank the winner.

Messer hit 10 of 15 shots, including 4 of 6 3-pointers, as the Cougars (2-9) broke a six-game skid. Chatt had three 3-pointers among his 14 points, Anthony Mitchell scored 11 and Bundalo grabbed 11 rebounds.

Spencer Dixon matched Messer with 24 points and Aaron Anderson was 7-for-7 from the field in scoring 15 for the Owls (2-6). Anderson added a game-high 12 rebounds, and Markeith Cummings scored 12.
