Drake holds on to defeat Boise State 72-69

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Seth VanDeest finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds and Drake held off Boise State for a 72-69 victory Sunday.

Ryan Wedel also had 13 points for the Bulldogs (4-4), and Aaron Hawley added 12.

Paul Noonan scored 20 points and La’Shard Anderson had 15 for the Broncos (6-3), who have lost three straight after matching the best start in school history. Each of their losses have been by three points.

Drake led 65-55 with 4:11 remaining before Boise State cut the lead to two on three occasions in the final minute.

Anderson’s layup with 11 seconds left made it 71-69. After Wedel hit 1-of-2 free throws, Boise State had two shots to tie it, but Anderson and Robert Arnold each missed a 3 in the final 5 seconds.
