New Mexico State ends 7-game slide with 83-49 win

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Freshman Christian Kabongo scored 19 points and New Mexico State ended a seven-game losing streak with an 83-49 victory over winless Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday night.

Hernst Laroche added 16 points and six steals, Bandja Sy had a career-high 15 points and Tyrone Watson finished with 12 points and eight rebounds for the Aggies (3-7).

Allen Smith had 10 points to lead the Golden Lions (0-9), who shot 32.8 percent and were 2 of 18 from 3-point range.

New Mexico State scored 25 points off 21 Pine Bluff turnovers and outrebounded the Golden Lions 47-25.

The Aggies took a 36-19 lead into halftime, opened the second half on a 10-0 run and led by as many as 34.
