Southern Utah tops Oklahoma Panhandle State 68-51

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) — Ryan Brimley’s 16 points helped Southern Utah to a 68-51 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State on Tuesday night.

Jordan Weirick added 10 points and Matt Hodgson grabbed 10 rebounds for the Thunderbirds (3-7), who snapped a three-game losing streak. Kyle Davis had four of Southern Utah’s 13 blocked shots, and Ray Jones had six assists.

Marcale Marshall took game scoring honors with 19 points for the Division II Aggies (2-8), who dropped their fourth in a row. Micheal Dorton snared 13 rebounds.

Southern Utah shot 40.3 percent (25 of 62), which was significantly better than the Aggies’ 29.8 percent (17 of 57). The Thunderbirds also outrebounded their opponents 46-40.

Southern Utah led 35-21 at halftime, and the gap peaked at 21 points early in the second half.

Oklahoma Panhandle State hadn’t played since Nov. 29.
