KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — An Afghan official says many people have been killed when a roadside bomb struck a crowded minibus in the southern Herat province.

Rafi Behrozan, a spokesman for the provincial governor, says he doesn’t know how many people died in Thursday’s blast.

He says the explosion in the Kushk Kuhna district was powerful and killed the majority of the passengers on board. Minibuses usually carry between 15 to 20 people.

Behrozan says the vehicle was crowded with members of an extended family.
