DETROIT (AP) — A person familiar with the negotiations says six-time All-Star Magglio Ordonez and the Detroit Tigers have agreed to a $10 million, one-year deal.

The person, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Thursday because the deal hadn’t been announced, says it includes potential award bonuses.

Detroit declined Ordonez’s $15 million option in October, but wanted him back if he appeared to be healthy after breaking his right ankle in July and needed season-ending surgery. The outfielder turns 37 next month.

His American League-pennant winning homer four years ago lifted Detroit to its first World Series appearance since 1984.
