GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver says he urged Aaron Rodgers to sit out the rest of last weekend’s game in Detroit after the quarterback took a pair of hard hits.
Rodgers was hit on back-to-back plays. Driver says the quarterback wasn’t quite right but still wanted to go back in the game.
Driver urged him to sit out and Rodgers was later diagnosed with a concussion.
Driver says he was “very concerned” about Rodgers and told him that his health is more important than a game. Rodgers had another concussion earlier this season.
Earlier this week, The Associated Press reported that the number of concussions being reported in the NFL this season is up more than 20 percent from 2009, and more than 30 percent from 2008.
