Italian fastest in downhill training, Miller 4th

VAL GARDENA, Italy (AP) — Christof Innerhofer of Italy had the fastest time in the final practice run on the Saslong course ahead of a World Cup downhill race scheduled for Saturday.

Innerhofer clocked 1 minute, 57.76 seconds. Bode Miller of the United States was fourth, trailing Innerhofer by 0.30.

Austria’s Michael Walchhofer, the 2007 and ’08 winner, was second. Germany’s Andreas Sander was third.

A World Cup super-G race is scheduled for Friday in Val Gardena, Italy.
