STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy would like to hire a new offensive coordinator who could continue to run Dana Holgorsen’s prolific attack.

Gundy said Friday that his “first choice” for Holgorsen’s replacement would be someone who could make a smooth transition with the offense that leads the nation in total offense, and ranks second in passing and third in scoring.

Holgorsen will be leaving to become the offensive coordinator and head-coach-in-waiting at West Virginia after the 16th-ranked Cowboys (10-2) play Arizona (7-5) in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29.

Gundy says he likely won’t hire a new offensive coordinator until the first week of January.
