Yakima: woman using wheelchair fatally hurt by car

YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — Yakima police say a woman using a wheelchair to cross a street has died of injuries suffered when she was hit by a car on Friday.

A police spokesman tells the Yakima Herald-Republic that the victim was 68-year-old Stacie Wilson of Yakima.

The crash was reported shortly before 2 p.m. Friday. Wilson was crossing the street when a 44-year-old woman made a left turn from Yakima Avenue and struck the wheelchair near the center of the street. The driver was not immediately identified.

Traffic officers are investigating.
