CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Religious leaders from Corvallis plan a rally against violence Sunday in Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square, where federal authorities say a Corvallis teenager plotted to set off a bomb at a Christmas celebration.

A 19-year-old former Oregon State University student was arrested Nov. 26 after an FBI sting. Two days later, the Corvallis mosque he sometimes attended was hit by an arsonist.

Rabbi Benjamin Barnett told the Corvallis Gazette-Times that Emir Mohammed Siala of the Corvallis Islamic center was touched by the spirit of a local rally that followed the fire and wants to bring that to the people of Portland.

The rally is scheduled at 2 p.m.
