VANCOUVER — The author of a book on George C. Marshall will discuss his career and leadership qualities Thursday at the general’s former Vancouver home.

Gerald Pops’ presentation will be at 11 a.m. at the Marshall House, 1301 Officers Row. It is free to the public.

Pops is the author of “Ethical Leadership in Turbulent Times: Modeling the Public Career of George C. Marshall.”

Pops is a professor in the graduate master of public administration degree program at West Virginia University.

The presentation will be followed by a book signing and a chance to talk with the author.

From 1936 to 1938, Gen. Marshall was commander of the 5th Infantry Brigade at Vancouver Barracks. He served as U.S. Army chief of staff during World War II, and was Secretary of State from 1947 to1949.

Marshall was awarded the 1953 Nobel Peace Prize for the Marshall Plan, which helped rebuild the post-war economies of Europe and the Pacific nations.
