NEW YORK (AP) — Michael Culpo had 16 points as seven of Long Island University’s eight players scored in double figures in the Blackbirds’ 91-85 win over Army on Sunday.

The Black Knights (5-6) cut a 17-point second-half deficit to just two points with 28 seconds left, but Long Island sealed the win by making 4 of 6 free throws.

After the Blackbirds (7-4) led 47-39 at halftime, Army closed to 54-53 before a scoring drought lasting 5:19 helped Long Island build a 70-53 lead.

The Black Knights fell below .500 for the first time this season.

Kyle Johnson added 13 points and Jamal Olasewere had 12 for Long Island, while Julian Boyd, C.J. Garner and Jason Brickman had 11 and David Hicks 10. Kenny Onyechi, the only other Blackbirds player to see action, had seven points.
