Stecher wins 2nd Nordic combined World Cup event

RAMSAU, Austria (AP) — Mario Stecher of Austria won his second straight Nordic combined World Cup event Sunday for his 12th career victory.

Stecher led after the ski jump and finished the 10-kilometer cross-country race in 24 minutes, 22.3 seconds. He also won Saturday’s event in Ramsau.

Tino Edelmann finished second, 8.6 seconds behind, and fellow German Eric Frenzel was 10.2 behind in third.

Jason Lamy Chappuis of France finished fourth and stayed atop the World Cup standings with 435 points. Stecher is second with 386, and Mikko Kokslien of Norway is third with 355.

The Nordic combined World Cup continues on Jan. 8-9 in Schonach, Germany.
