Auburn ends skid, beats USC Upstate 68-54

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Earnest Ross scored 16 points to lead four Auburn players in double figures as the Tigers snapped a three-game losing streak with a 68-54 over South Carolina-Upstate on Tuesday night.

Ross hit a pair of 3-pointers during an 11-0 run in a span of 2:12 when the Tigers (4-7) increased a 39-38 lead to 50-38 with 9:58 remaining. Frankie Sullivan also hit a 3-pointer and Kenny Gabriel a 2-point basket during the run.

In the second half, Auburn shot 55.6 percent (10 of 18) and was 15 of 20 from the free-throw line. The Spartans (2-9) shot 33.3 percent (11 of 33) after halftime and were just 1 of 2 from the line.

Sullivan scored 14 points for Auburn, Josh Wallace added 13 and Gabriel had 10 for the Tigers. Gabriel also blocked four shots.

Tony Dukes scored 13 points and Torrey Craig and Chandler Hash had 11 apiece to lead USC Upstate.
