Fordham cruises past Kennesaw State 80-63

NEW YORK (AP) — Chris Gaston scored 20 points and had 11 rebounds to lead Fordham to an 80-63 victory over Kennesaw State on Wednesday night.

Branden Frazier added 18 points for the Rams (6-4), who shot 57.9 percent from the field (33 of 57) to win their fourth consecutive game.

Gaston has double-doubles in eight of Fordham’s 10 games.

Fordham took control by opening the second half on a 10-2 run for a 52-36 lead with 17:16 remaining. Gaston scored five points in the run, hitting a layup and then converting a three-point play.

The Rams pushed the lead to 71-50 on Kevin Bristol’s layup with 7:49 remaining and then to 76-52 on Alberto Estwick’s 3-pointer with 5:21 left.

Estwick finished with 15 points and Brenton Butler added 14 for Fordham, which outrebounded the Owls 38-28.

Markeith Cummings scored 22 points to lead Kennesaw State (2-9), which has lost nine consecutive games.
