Sacre leads Gonzage past Xavier 64-54

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Robert Sacre scored a season-high 22 points to lead Gonzaga past Xavier 64-54 on Wednesday night.

Elias Harris, the only other player with more than six points for the Bulldogs (7-5), added 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Tu Holloway scored 26 points for Xavier (7-3).

Gonzaga led 34-23 at the end of a sloppy first half. The Musketeers scored the first 10 points of the second half and held a 37-36 lead before falling behind for good.

Xavier shot 33.3 percent from the field and had season highs of 27 fouls and 18 turnovers.

The Bulldogs shot 38.1 percent from the field, but made 30 of 34 free-throw attempts.

Gonzaga played without leading scorer Steven Gray, the team’s lone senior. He has been suffering from back spasms.
