KENT, Wash. (AP) — The man suspected in the slaying of his former girlfriend at a Kent apartment stole a police car in a wild chase five years ago in Seattle.

Police are looking for 40-year-old Shawn David Gulseth in the death of 45-year-old Bonnie K. Peterson whose body was found Tuesday by officers.

KOMO News reports Gulseth was convicted of robbery, car theft, eluding and drug charges after the 2005 incident.

He sped off from a Seattle police officer who tried to stop him for driving at night without headlights on. Gulseth ditched the stolen car with heroin inside and was arrested at a restaurant then put in the back seat of a patrol car. He was able to climb into the front street and drive off in handcuffs. He sped off in a chase that ended in a crash.
