GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — The militant Hamas group is warning it will escalate hostilities against Israel if tensions don’t subside along the Gaza-Israeli border.

Hamas spokesman Abu Obeida said on Saturday that the group would respond aggressively to attacks.

He says Israel is “playing with fire.”

A recent flare-up along the border has threatened the calm that has largely held since Israel’s military incursion in Gaza nearly two years ago aimed at stopping years of Palestinian rocket fire.

Gaza’s militants fired 30 rockets into southern Israel last week, lightly wounding a 15 year-old girl.

And early Saturday, Israel bombed what the military said was a “terror training facility” and a weapon smuggling tunnel in Gaza. Hamas said nobody was hurt in the raids.
