TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Five people were injured early Christmas morning in a head-on crash on State Route 16 in Tacoma.

The State Patrol suspects the driver of a BMW heading in the wrong direction was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. People in both vehicles were taken to Tacoma General Hospital.

The News-Tribune reports the State Patrol stopped 158 drivers and arrested five during DUI patrols in the Tacoma area on Christmas Eve.

The State Patrol says two young men were killed in a crash on northbound Interstate 5 in Seattle early Saturday. In that accident a BMW traveling very fast smashed into the back of a moving Seattle Fire Department medic unit.
