SALEM, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon State Hospital spokeswoman says a patient at the Salem psychiatric facility was found dead in her room in an apparent suicide.

Citing privacy laws, the hospital declined to identify the patient found dead Monday night. The Oregonian says the woman’s lawyer, Harris Matarazzo, confirmed the death of Elisabeth Sellars.

Hospital spokeswoman Rebeka Gipson-King said Tuesday the woman was in a medium-security, coed ward and was in the hospital’s forensic psychiatric program. Patients in the forensic program have been found guilty of a crime.

Oregon State Police are investigating the death.

Superintendent Greg Roberts says the hospital also will conduct a full review to ensure all hospital policies and procedures were followed.
