MARYSVILLE, Wash. (AP) — The Army is building a new $33 million Reserve center in Marysville.
The Herald of Everett reports that the 100,000-square-foot facility will be the home of the 250 soldiers of the Army Reserve’s 364th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, now based at Fort Lawton in Seattle.
Capt. Christopher Larsen says the new center also will house five other Army Reserve units and three Washington National Guard units — that’s about 1,000 additional soldiers.
Larsen says most of the soldiers won’t train or work at the facility all at once. Nearly 200 Army personnel and civilians will be employed full time at the center, and most of the staff members and their families plan to relocate to Snohomish County.
The move to Marysville has been in the works for about five years, since historic Fort Lawton was placed on the Defense Department’s closure list.
