Long Beach State never trails in 69-53 win

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) — T.J. Robinson scored 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Long Beach State to a 69-53 victory over Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo on Thursday night.

The 49ers (7-8, 2-0 Big West) never trailed, though the Mustangs (4-8, 0-1) managed to tie twice early in the first half.

Long Beach State went into halftime up 29-18 and led by as many as 24 points midway through the second period.

Greg Plater chipped in with 12 points for the 49ers and Larry Anderson added 11.

Long Beach State shot 53.1 percent from the floor while the Mustangs managed just 39 percent.

David Hanson led the Mustangs with 21 points, Jamal Johnson added 12 points and Will Donahue grabbed 10 rebounds.
