FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — New York Jets coach Rex Ryan says Mark Sanchez will start at quarterback in the team’s regular-season finale against Buffalo, but is uncertain how long he will play.

Ryan says Thursday that Sanchez, dealing with a sore right shoulder, showed good zip on his passes in practice and showed him enough to make him feel good about starting for the playoff-bound Jets (10-5). Ryan was unsure Wednesday whether Sanchez would play Sunday.

Sanchez has played well the last two games even with his shoulder bothering him, and Ryan wants him to stay in his late-season rhythm heading into the playoffs.

It’s possible Sanchez could play a few series or a few quarters before giving way to Mark Brunell and Kellen Clemens against the Bills (4-11).
