Seattle prepping Whitehurst to start vs. Rams

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Seattle’s Charlie Whitehurst says he’s not worrying he might take all the snaps in practice this week and then have regular quarterback Matt Hasselbeck swoop in and start Sunday night against St. Louis.

Whitehurst is preparing to make the second start of his career with the NFC West title on the line. Hasselbeck injured his hip last week against Tampa Bay in the first quarter and while Seattle is not ruling out Hasselbeck, the Seahawks are moving forward with Whitehurst as the starter.

Whitehurst struggled when he took over for Hasselbeck a week ago. Whitehurst completed 11 of 18 passes for 66 yards in his three quarters of play, but missed on his first four throws and never got the offense going.

Whitehurst says he understands the pressure of what Sunday means.
