Czyz, Hunt guide Nevada to 86-69 win over Hawaii

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Olek Czyz and Dario Hunt scored 23 points apiece to lead Nevada over Hawaii 86-69 on Friday night.

Malik Story added 18 points for the Wolf Pack (4-10, 1-0 Western Athletic), including four 3-pointers in the opening minutes of the second half, when Nevada put the game away. Deonte Burton added 11 points.

Vander Joaquim had 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Rainbow Warriors (9-5, 0-2). Hiram Thompson scored 14 points and Zane Johnson 10.

Nevada led 45-29 at halftime and quickly stretched it to 61-36 with 16:06 to play on Story’s fourth 3-pointer of the half.

With 11:53 to go in the first half, the Wolf Pack went on a 21-9 run to go up 37-25. Czyz, a transfer from Duke, hit three 3-pointers during the spurt.

Hawaii cut it to 37-28, but Nevada closed the half with an 8-1 run, capped by Story’s long 3-pointer.
