NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) — A sea otter rescued from an Alaska beach has found a new home at the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
The sea otter, named “Mojo” by aquarium staff, was found in Homer, Alaska, in October. He was six months old and had a broken jaw and several cuts.
Rescuers believed he had been hit by a boat, KGW-TV reports.
He was deemed unsuitable to return to his natural habitat.
After two weeks of quarantine, he was introduced under supervision to the other otters in the exhibit.
The sea otter is now eight months old, and swam into his exhibit for the first time on Thursday.
