NEW YORK (AP) — The father of a Denver airport driver accused in an alleged terrorism plot will go to New York City to face obstruction charges.

Mohammed Zazi (ZAH’-zee) appeared Monday in federal court in Denver, where a judge ordered his transfer to federal court in Brooklyn for an arraignment.

He’s the father of Najibullah Zazi (nah-jee-BOO’-lah ZAH’-zee). Prosecutors say the son received al-Qaida training, cooked up peroxide-based explosives in a Colorado motel kitchen and drove to New York.

His father had been arrested on an earlier charge of lying to the government. That charge was dropped. He’s now accused of trying to get rid of chemicals and other evidence.

Two other people the government says traveled to Pakistan with Zazi for training also are charged.
