Energy audits coming to south Hazel Dell

Published:

Residents on the south side of Hazel Dell, between Northeast 68th Street and the Vancouver city limits, may be eligible for energy audits, weatherization kits and financial assistance for efficiency and insulation upgrades.

Clark Public Utilities and Clark County are offering the pilot energy conservation program that combines $1 million in federal stimulus money with a $1.9 million grant for energy conservation for low-income homes. Starting in mid-March, volunteers will canvass the pilot area to provide energy-conservation kits and schedule home-energy audits that could lead to financial assistance. Energy audits last about two hours.

The area in question mostly is a slice of Hazel Dell east of Interstate 5, south of Northeast 68th Street and north of 63rd/Minnehaha Street and the Bonneville power lines between Minnehaha and 68th Street. Also included are properties between I-5 and Northeast Highway 99, between 73rd Street and the Vancouver city limits.
