OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — A study finds that visitors spent $14.2 billion last year in Washington.
The 2009 Travel Impacts Report released Tuesday by the Department of Commerce and Washington State Tourism says the visitors generated 147,600 jobs — nearly 4 percent of all jobs in the state.
The report shows a slight decrease in travel spending from peak year 2008, but the report says Washington held its own in national market share.
The report was prepared for the Department of Commerce by Dean Runyan Associates.
