ELLENSBURG, Wash. (AP) — About 65 volunteers on foot and on snowmobiles found no trace Friday of an 87-year-old snowmobiler missing about 10 miles south of Wenatchee along the Chelan-Kittitas County border.

Chelan County sheriff’s spokesman Jerry Moore says a helicopter joined the search for a few hours Friday morning before snow flurries set in. The Chelan County and Kittitas County sheriff’s offices are cooperating in the search.

Tommy Sasseen of Cashmere was snowmobiling with several friends Wednesday when he became separated from the group. He had limited food and no overnight gear.

Moore says the plan is to continue the effort Saturday, searching grid by grid in the area where Sasseen was known to have snowmobiled in the past.
