Couple seeks to reopen theater, offer beer, wine

— Liberty Theater moviegoers might soon be able to sip beer and wine while seeing a show if the downtown Camas venue is leased to prospective new tenants.

Heyward Stewart and Julie Norton Stewart, husband and wife, applied this month to the Washington Liquor Control Board for a license to sell wine and beer at the Liberty, although the couple has not signed a contract to lease the theater.

The two-screen venue has been dark since September, when it was closed by operator Greg Wood. The Stewarts are negotiating to lease the space from owners Gary and Marilyn Webberly.
