VANCOUVER CLINIC’S BATTLE GROUND BUILDING
• What: a 48,000-square-foot, two-story medical office building.
• Site: 12 acres.
• Cost: $12 million.
• Health care providers: Up to 15.
The Vancouver Clinic has wasted little time getting construction started for its new $12 million medical office building in Battle Ground.
At groundbreaking ceremonies Wednesday, the clinic kicked off the project at 2005 W. Main St., a site where it already operates a smaller office.
Expected to open this fall, the new 48,000-square-foot building will house family practice, physical therapy and urgent care departments. It will also offer internal medicine, ob-gyn, pediatrics and expanded imaging and lab suites.
Architectural features of the project will include an arched entrance and galleria with a glassed-in reception room similar in design to three office projects built by the doctor-owned clinic over the past five years.
The Battle Ground facility is being built in response to current and expected population growth in the area, Tom VanSweringen, clinic executive director, said recently. The building will quadruple clinic space there.
Once the new building is finished, the old structure will be torn down and used for parking lot space.
Battle Ground, said Van Sweringen, continues to offer “good growth potential” with the opening of the Interstate 5-Battle Ground interchange and plans to make state Highway 502 a four-lane road, east all the way into the city.
The clinic serves approximately 30,000 patients in the Battle Ground area of north Clark County and forecasts a 14 percent increase in patient load there this year.
The Battle Ground project is the latest for the clinic, which has grown by 58 health care providers to 211 in the past five years.
