Clark women locked into No. 3 seed

Penguins know where they will be in tourney bracket

The Clark College women’s basketball team will be the No. 3 seed from the West Division for the upcoming NWAACC Tournament after falling to Lower Columbia 72-57 at the O’Connell Center on Saturday.

Clark (13-8, 10-4) was led in scoring by Chelsea Dyson’s 16 points. Renee Tzeo had 13.

“We just didn’t show up to play,” Clark coach Nancy Boone said. “I told our players the season isn’t over and we still need to get better.”

Second-place LCC (17-8, 13-2) was led by Mollee Schwegler, who had 29 points. Sadie Saite added 20.

Lower Columbia men 65, Clark 54 — Zach Walhder had 11 points and Derek Thurston 10, but it wasn’t enough for the cold-shooting Penguins (7-15, 5-9). Clark shot 19 percent in the second half and 28.5 percent for the game.

Marcus Bell led LCC (21-3, 12-3) with 17 points and 17 rebounds.

The Clark squads host their final home games Wednesday against Tacoma. Women tip off at 6 p.m., men at 8 p.m.
