“A Vanished People: The Mystery of Lake River” will be the topic of next month’s First Thursday program at the Clark County Historical Museum, 1511 Main St.

The free presentation, at 7 p.m. March 4, is by archaeologist and researcher Alison Stenger, who is director of research for the Institute for Archaeological Studies in Portland. With more than 25 years of professional experience, she has been presenting professional papers since 1984 and co-chaired the last two International Science Conferences.

Stenger is currently conducting extensive research on the Pacific Northwest as it was during the last ice age. She also advises institutions and students, and teaches field classes on archaeology.

Stenger’s new book, “A Vanished People,” looks at a mysterious group of people who lived in our area for several centuries before disappearing.

The lecture will be accompanied by a display of the museum’s collection of Lake River ceramics.

The museum is open free from 5 to 9 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month from February through November.
