A man in his mid-30s died Sunday evening after the car he was driving struck the rear of a stranded dump truck at 7300 N.E. 182nd Ave., north of Fourth Plain Road.

Sgt. Bill Roberts said the accident was being investigated Sunday night and he could not provide the man’s name, age or city of residence.

He said the man was northbound in a sedan when it collided with the dump truck, which was in the roadway. The driver died at the scene.

Vancouver Fire Department responded to a report of a man trapped in his car. Two fire rigs; Heavy Rescue 5, which carries extrication equipment; and 11 firefighters responded.

Roberts said the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic-Homicide Unit is investigating.
