Herrera wins Cowlitz County straw poll

State Rep. Jaime Herrera swept a Cowlitz County straw poll ranking 3rd Congressional District candidates, her campaign announced Monday. The poll was conducted Feb. 13 during the county Republicans’ precinct caucuses.
Herrera, R-Camas, received 88 percent of straw poll votes cast, to 7 percent for Washougal City Councilman Jon Russell and 5 percent for Olympia financial advisor David Castillo.
Cowlitz was the only county in the 3rd District that held a straw poll at its precinct caucuses.
U.S. Rep. Brian Baird, D-Vancouver, is not running for re-election.
